Beard- Coach Beard succeeded Coach Dane Church in 2013 as the head basketball coach of the Williamsville Bullets. He graduated from Pleasant Plains High School, to then become a PE/health/drivers education teacher at Williamsville High School. He coached junior high baseball at Williamsville too. Nick's wife, Courtney, is also a PE teacher at Williamsville. In 2021 Coach Courtney Beard took over the high school volleyball program.
Coming into 2023- After Williamsville's 16-point win over Taylorville in the season opener, Coach Nick Beard sits at 197 career wins. Coach Beard is 3 wins away from the 200 milestone, but he also sits close to history. Beard is just 6 wins away from Carey McVickers' record 203 career wins. McVickers coached from 1987 to 1998, and won 4 regional titles; including 1990-1991 when he coached the first Williamsville basketball team to make it to state. Coach Beard has won 3 regionals of his own, and has the most winning seasons by any Williamsville basketball caoch; which is 9, and only he only has 1 losing season over his tenure.
Record cracking- After Williamsville beat Taylorville, they play Meridian, Monticello, Nokomis, Mt.Pulaski, and Tri-City. They then play in the Eureka College Shootout and the Illinois College Shootout with North Mac in between. They play 8 more games until Christmas, and even if Beard doesn’t get it before , he'll likely have a chance to do it during the Williamsville Holiday Tournament. The Beard winning legacy over the past decade could make history to ring in the new year.
