A Look at How This WHS Senior Feels about Filling an Important Roll.

Jonathan Janssen was selected as drum major of the Williamsville High Marching Bullets after auditions by Band Director Aaron Gosnell.

Jonathan has been in the Williamsville Band since 6th grade. Jonathan said that "I've always admired the WHS band program, so being put into a leadership position where I can affect how the band performs is very exciting." Jonathan is an award winning trombone player, while also playing other instruments, such as piano. Jonathan continued, saying "This has absolutely been a goal of mine. I've always hoped to be given a chance to be drum major so I really look forward to the fall. Even though we lost many talented musicians last year, we gained many new freshmen who I know will have a great influence on each other, so the band will be in good hands."

Marissa Carrell leaves behind the WHS Band after a 2-year tenure as Drum Major.

Marissa was longtime member of the Williamsville Band who was selected as Drum Major after Carissa Carter graduated. Marissa is also an All-State piano player, and an award winning percussionist. Marissa was excited, to say the least, when she found out that Jonathan Janssen was going to be her successor. "Jonathan is a natural born leader, who I know is going to lead the WHS band in an amazing direction. I can't wait to see what he does with the marching band this year. I expect great things from him!"

Drum Major Jonathan Janssen will lead a group of approximately 50 students. Their field show will be displayed at the first varsity home football game on August 25th against PORTA.
