The Brotherhood At Williamsville Is Deeper Than Just A Saying

The Cates Brothers Are Going To Be Familiar Faces In The Bullet Backfield.

LAST NIGHT- The Cates brothers made their first start together last night against PORTA. The game was called early due to lightning, but none the less, the Bullets got a 29-0 win. The Bullets had 210 total yards, and 161 came on the ground(<2 quarters). The Cates brothers combined for 3 TDs, Josh had one in the air when he hit Mason Lyttaker for a 12 yard highlight reel touchdown. Josh had another TD on the ground when he ran for 34 yards, and Braddock had a 25 yard TD run in the 2nd quarter. Josh Cates also started on defense at safety, and Braddock Cates got in on the Bullets secondary as well.

THE BROTHERS IMPACT- It wasn't a question that Braddock would be starting on offense, but it certainly was for Josh. Over his tenure on the Williamsville football team, he has basically played every defensive position, and kicker. However, he spent practically his whole JFL career behind center at quarterback. A couple weeks ago, it was made clear to Josh that he would be the starting quarterback for Williamsville, solidifying the two brothers in the backfield. Josh said that "I've been excited for this year of football for a long time. The seniors are ready to leave their mark, and I'm ready to be in the backfield with Braddock." Braddock Cates was more than excited to get the year started alongside his brother, saying "being able to be his guy in the backfield means a lot this year. This season is all about playing together, and I think we are going to be a very successful team because we play for each other and not for ourselves." Josh said after last nights game that "having Braddock, who understand not only the game, but how I play and to the level he does, makes the game easier." Colin Burge after last nights game noted that "Josh and Braddock will probably combine for most of our[Williamsville] yards. He also went on to say that "They are both big time players. Josh is a natural leader, on both offense and defense. His ability to pursue the ball is unmatched. Braddock's ability to run the ball with speed and power is one of the biggest weapons we have. Both of them together is an electrifying duo."
